Workshops

We meet at The Minster Inn on Marygate in York on the first Sunday in the month, from 6 till 9pm.  Participants are asked to bring 5 or 6 copies of their work, not to exceed 2,000 words, and £2, £1 if they are under-18.

Marygate is the first turning left off Bootham (A19) going north from the city walls, the nearest gateway being Bootham Bar.  Nearest car park is Marygate car park, for which users are charged.  Cyclists are best leaving their bikes in York city centre.

Although the workshop was set up as a feeder for submissions to Dream Catcher, we welcome anything that passes for literature, not just what you might expect to find on the pages of Dream Catcher, so we have heard and read excerpts from novels, plays, essays, lyrics as well as poems, that generally dominate, reviews and short stories.
We try to be friendly and encouraging and there is a general understanding that any criticism offered, supplied by other participants in the workshop (who are writers), is constructive and supportive.  It does not matter whether the work is intended for publication or otherwise.
